What it means
Voltage on the engine disconnect clutch pressure sensor signal line is above the expected window. Wire shorted to B+ or sensor open.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The engine disconnect clutch pressure sensor sends a signal voltage that the hybrid control module uses to estimate clutch engagement pressure. This code sets when that signal rises above its expected window, which can happen if the signal is shorted to battery voltage or the sensor circuit is open.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to B+
- Open pressure sensor
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check live pressure signal data and related codes to confirm whether the reading is persistently high.
- Inspect the pressure sensor connector and harness for loose or corroded pins, damaged insulation, or wiring contacting a power feed.
- With power off as specified by the manufacturer, check the signal wire for an open circuit and for a short to battery voltage.
- Verify the sensor reference, ground, and signal connections against the manufacturer's wiring information, including terminal fit and continuity.
- If the wiring passes, test the pressure sensor using the manufacturer's procedure and replace it if it has an open internal circuit.
Common fixes
- Reseat the pressure sensor connector and repair poor terminal contact.
- Repair a signal wire shorted to battery voltage or an open in the sensor harness.
- Replace a pressure sensor that fails the manufacturer's circuit checks.
Can I keep driving?
The module may not be able to control clutch engagement reliably, so shifts can be harsh, delayed, or unavailable and limp mode may occur. Drive only as needed to reach a safe place, and stop if the vehicle slips or loses drive.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
