What it means
The engine disconnect clutch pressure signal does not match plausibility checks against actuator commands. Sensor drift or installation offset.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The engine disconnect clutch pressure sensor reports how firmly the clutch is engaged so the hybrid control module can compare actual pressure with its actuator commands. This code sets when the signal is electrically plausible but falls outside the expected range or does not track those commands, which can point to sensor drift or a mounting offset.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Sensor zero point drifted
- Sensor mounting loose - bias offset
- Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and use a scan tool to compare disconnect clutch pressure with actuator commands and related hybrid or transmission codes.
- Inspect the pressure sensor mounting and connector for looseness, damage, corrosion, or contamination that could shift the reading.
- Check the sensor wiring, reference, ground, and signal connections for poor contact or damage using the manufacturer's wiring information.
- Compare the pressure reading at rest and during commanded clutch changes with the manufacturer's specification to identify a persistent offset or poor response.
- If wiring and mounting are sound, test the sensor's calibration or response using the manufacturer's procedure and replace it if it remains out of range.
Common fixes
- Secure a loose sensor mounting and connector.
- Repair damaged wiring or poor sensor ground and terminal connections.
- Replace a pressure sensor that remains offset or fails the manufacturer's response checks.
Can I keep driving?
The hybrid control module may limit shifting or put the vehicle in limp mode if it cannot trust clutch pressure feedback. Keep trips short and gentle, and stop if shifting becomes erratic or the clutch slips or shudders.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
