OBD-II fault code

P2757: Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off

What it means

The TCC pressure control solenoid is commanded on but does not produce the expected lockup pressure. TCC stays open or partially engaged.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The torque converter clutch pressure control solenoid directs hydraulic pressure to engage the converter clutch. P2757 sets when the controller commands the solenoid on but the expected lockup pressure or clutch response does not occur, leaving the clutch open or only partly engaged.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Solenoid spool stuck in closed position
  2. Hydraulic feed restricted by debris
  3. Carbon or debris buildup preventing free movement

Symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and compare commanded TCC operation with converter slip readings to confirm that lockup was requested but not achieved.
  2. Check transmission fluid level and condition using the manufacturer's procedure, since low or contaminated fluid can restrict pressure delivery.
  3. Inspect the TCC solenoid connector and wiring for damage that could prevent the commanded activation.
  4. Test the solenoid coil and control circuit against the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If the electrical checks pass, inspect for a stuck solenoid spool, restricted hydraulic feed or debris in the valve body using the manufacturer's procedure.

Common fixes

  • Correct transmission fluid level or condition if required by the manufacturer's procedure.
  • Repair a damaged TCC solenoid connector or control wire.
  • Replace a solenoid that fails its electrical or movement test.
  • Clean or repair a restricted hydraulic feed or valve body passage if inspection confirms debris.

Can I keep driving?

Limit driving and avoid towing or sustained high-speed use if the converter slips or the transmission shudders, since continued slip can overheat the fluid and damage the clutch. Stop if shifts become unreliable or the transmission enters limp mode.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
