OBD-II fault code

P2760: Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Control Circuit Intermittent

What it means

The TCC pressure control solenoid shows intermittent electrical or hydraulic faults. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The torque converter clutch (TCC) pressure control solenoid regulates hydraulic pressure used to apply or release converter lockup. The transmission control module monitors the solenoid circuit and response, and this code sets when the electrical or hydraulic operation is intermittent rather than consistent.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Solenoid connector not fully seated
  2. Coil resistance drifts with temperature
  3. Connector with intermittent contact under vibration

Symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

How to diagnose it

  1. Read freeze-frame data and transmission live data to note when the intermittent TCC pressure control fault occurs and whether lockup command or response changes.
  2. Inspect the solenoid connector and transmission harness for a loose fit, chafing, fluid or water ingress, corrosion, or damaged pins.
  3. Wiggle the connector and harness while monitoring the circuit or TCC data to check for a vibration-sensitive dropout.
  4. Check the solenoid circuit connections and coil condition, including when warm if the fault is temperature-related, using the manufacturer's specification.
  5. If the electrical checks pass, follow the manufacturer's transmission test procedure to assess the solenoid's pressure-control response.

Common fixes

  • Reseat and secure the TCC pressure control solenoid connector.
  • Repair chafed wiring or damaged seals in the solenoid harness.
  • Repair loose or corroded connector terminals.
  • Replace the TCC pressure control solenoid if its circuit or operation remains intermittent.

Can I keep driving?

Limit driving and avoid towing if the transmission shudders, slips, or shifts unpredictably; stop if it cannot maintain safe drive. An intermittent TCC pressure-control fault can disrupt converter lockup and increase heat or wear.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
