What it means
A/C Compressor Motor Phase V Current Sensor Circuit Range/Performance: the signal is implausible or outside the valid range.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The phase V current sensor reports one part of the A/C compressor motor's current to the control module. P0EBA sets when the phase V reading is implausible or outside the range expected for the system's operating conditions.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Current sensor failed
- Wiring fault
- Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
Symptoms
- A/C warning light or check-engine light
- Air conditioning may cool intermittently or less effectively
How to diagnose it
- Check freeze-frame data and graph phase V current with A/C demand and phase U readings to see when the mismatch occurs.
- Inspect the phase V sensor connector and harness for corrosion, poor contact, damage, or interference from nearby wiring.
- Check the phase V circuit for opens, shorts, and excessive resistance according to the manufacturer's specification.
- Test phase V sensor output under the specified operating conditions and compare it with the expected range.
- If the circuit is sound, evaluate the phase V sensor and compressor inverter using the vehicle's diagnostic procedure.
Common fixes
- Repair damaged phase V wiring or poor connections.
- Clean or replace corroded connector terminals and secure the plug.
- Replace the phase V sensor if its output remains implausible with a verified circuit.
- Repair or replace the compressor inverter if testing locates the fault there.
Can I keep driving?
The A/C may cool less effectively or intermittently, so do not count on it for defogging until repaired. If a hybrid-system warning or power limitation appears, follow the vehicle's warning instructions and arrange diagnosis.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
