What it means
The generator phase V current sensor circuit signal is above the expected range.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The generator’s phase V current sensor measures current in the V phase of the hybrid motor-generator. The hybrid control module sets P0E07 when the phase V signal rises above its expected range, which can result from a signal wire short to battery voltage, an open sensor, or poor connector contact.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to B+
- Open sensor
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Hybrid/EV system warning light on
- Reduced power or altered hybrid operation
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and compare phase V current data with phase U and other generator readings to see whether the high reading is isolated to phase V.
- Inspect the phase V sensor connector and harness for corrosion, loose pins, or damaged insulation that could let the signal contact battery voltage.
- Check the phase V sensor connector and verify its power, ground, and signal paths using the vehicle wiring diagram.
- Test the phase V signal wire for a short to B+ and check continuity as specified by the manufacturer.
- If the harness checks pass, test the phase V current sensor for an open or out-of-range output using the manufacturer’s procedure.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure corroded or loose phase V sensor connector pins.
- Repair the phase V signal wire if it is shorted to B+ or damaged.
- Replace the phase V current sensor if it is open or fails the specified output test.
- Clear the fault and confirm phase V readings are plausible alongside the other generator phases.
Can I keep driving?
The hybrid system may limit power or change generator operation when the phase V reading is implausibly high. Avoid hard acceleration and stop safely if the vehicle displays a stop or hybrid system warning.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
