What it means
The clutch pedal position sensor B reports a circuit/open fault. Redundant pedal position channel is unreliable.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Clutch pedal position sensor B reports pedal movement as a second channel so the control module can check pedal position and coordinate transmission functions. This code sets when the B-channel circuit is open or its signal is lost, making the redundant pedal reading unreliable.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Position sensor failed
- Wiring fault
- Pin pushed back out of connector body
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
How to diagnose it
- Read freeze-frame and live data to see whether clutch pedal sensor B stays absent or fixed as the pedal is pressed and released.
- Inspect sensor B’s connector for a pushed-back pin, a loose lock, corrosion, or wiring damage near the pedal.
- Check the B-channel supply, ground, and signal path for an open circuit against the wiring diagram and manufacturer’s specification.
- Compare sensor A and sensor B readings throughout pedal travel to locate where the B-channel signal disappears.
- If the wiring and terminals are intact, test clutch pedal position sensor B using the manufacturer’s procedure.
Common fixes
- Reseat a pushed-back pin and secure the clutch sensor connector.
- Repair an open or damaged wire in the sensor B circuit.
- Replace a faulty clutch pedal position sensor B.
- Carry out any required pedal sensor calibration after repair.
Can I keep driving?
The code does not by itself indicate limp mode, but the vehicle may have shifting or clutch-related control problems. Avoid driving if the clutch does not operate predictably or gears are difficult to engage, and have the circuit checked soon.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
