OBD-II fault code

P08B7: Clutch Pedal Position Sensor B Circuit High

What it means

The clutch pedal position sensor B reports a circuit high fault. Redundant pedal position channel is unreliable.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

Clutch pedal position sensor B provides a second pedal-travel signal to the control module. This code sets when the B-channel circuit voltage exceeds its expected range, leaving the module unable to trust that redundant reading.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Position sensor failed
  2. Wiring fault
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

How to diagnose it

  1. Review freeze-frame and live data to confirm sensor B is high and see whether the reading responds to pedal movement.
  2. Inspect sensor B’s connector and harness for loose or corroded terminals, damaged insulation, or a signal wire shorted to voltage.
  3. Check the B-channel supply, ground, and signal wiring against the wiring diagram and manufacturer’s specification.
  4. Compare sensor A and B readings through pedal travel to verify that the high condition is confined to the B channel.
  5. If the wiring passes inspection, test clutch pedal position sensor B with the manufacturer’s procedure.

Common fixes

  • Repair a signal wire shorted to voltage or other damaged sensor B wiring.
  • Clean and secure loose or corroded connector terminals.
  • Replace a faulty clutch pedal position sensor B.
  • Perform any required pedal sensor calibration after repair.

Can I keep driving?

This code does not by itself indicate limp mode, but it can interfere with clutch-related transmission control. Avoid driving if gear changes or clutch operation are unreliable, and get the circuit checked soon.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
