What is the Mazda5?

The Mazda5 is a compact family minivan, known as the Premacy in Japan. Its sliding rear doors make it easier for passengers to get in and out in tight spaces, while the flexible seating helps carry people and everyday luggage.

Mazda brought the Mazda5 name to markets including Europe and North America. It combined minivan practicality with a compact footprint. The second generation adopted Mazda’s Nagare design language, giving the sliding-door body a more sculpted look.

Mazda5 generations

The first generation, code CR, ran from 2006 to 2010. The second generation, code CW, followed from 2011 to 2015. The later car kept the family-focused layout and sliding doors, with revised styling, flexible seating and, in some versions, stop-start technology.

Engines, power and fuel consumption

In the EU, the Mazda5 was offered with 1.6- to 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, with power from 81 kW (110 PS) to 110 kW (150 PS). UK versions covered the same engine and power ranges. Among the most registered EU versions were the 1.6-litre diesel rated at 85 kW (116 PS), and 2.0-litre petrol and diesel models.

The lowest listed consumption in the UK and France is 5.2 L/100 km on the NEDC test. US versions used 2.3- to 2.5-litre petrol engines, with a best combined EPA rating of 24 MPG. Canada’s lowest listed figure is 9.6 L/100 km on the 5-cycle test. These results use different procedures: NEDC in Europe, EPA in the US and the 5-cycle test in Canada.

Where was the Mazda5 sold?

The Mazda5 appears in EU registration figures for 2010–2016, UK and US figures for 2006–2015, Canadian figures for 2006–2017, and French figures for 2012–2015.

What is the lowest listed fuel consumption?
