What is the Alfa Romeo 159?
The 159 is a four-door saloon that Alfa Romeo also offered as the Sportwagon estate. Giorgetto Giugiaro designed the Sportwagon with the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, giving the estate a flowing roofline and a practical load space. Together, the two body styles made the 159 an everyday car with a distinctive Italian design.
The cabin has a driver-focused layout, with the centre console angled towards the driver. The model followed the 156 in Alfa Romeo’s saloon range and offered a choice of petrol and diesel engines.
159 generations
The 159 was sold as one generation, Type 939, from 2005 to 2011. It followed the 156, and the Sportwagon estate extended the range beyond the saloon. The Giulia later returned as Alfa Romeo’s saloon, with its generation beginning in 2016.
