What it means
Voltage on the pressure control solenoid F control line is above the expected window. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Pressure control solenoid F regulates transmission pressure under the TCM's electrical control. P2739 sets when the control line voltage rises above its expected range, which can result from a short to battery power, an open solenoid coil, or a poor connection.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Control wire shorted to B+
- Open solenoid coil
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check-engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh or delayed shifts
- Slipping or reduced drive
- Transmission may enter limp mode
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and check live circuit data to confirm the high-voltage condition is tied to solenoid F.
- Check transmission fluid level and condition using the manufacturer's procedure, and record the shift symptoms.
- Inspect solenoid F's connector and harness for chafing against a powered wire, loose or corroded pins, water entry, or damage.
- Use the wiring diagram to check the solenoid F control line for a short to battery power and verify circuit continuity.
- Measure solenoid F coil resistance and compare it with the manufacturer's specification to check for an open coil.
- If the harness and solenoid pass, check the TCM connector and output circuit for the source of the high reading.
Common fixes
- Repair a solenoid F control wire shorted to battery power.
- Clean or repair corroded, loose, or pushed-back connector terminals.
- Replace solenoid F if its coil is open.
- Repair the TCM connector or output circuit if testing locates the high-voltage fault there.
Can I keep driving?
Limit driving if shifts are harsh, delayed, or slipping, and avoid towing or hard acceleration until the circuit is repaired. Stop if the transmission loses drive or shifts unpredictably.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
