OBD-II fault code

P27E0: Pressure Control Solenoid T Control Circuit High

What it means

The control circuit for pressure control solenoid T is reporting a high electrical condition.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Pressure control solenoid T is an electrically operated valve that helps regulate transmission hydraulic pressure. The transmission control module monitors the solenoid T circuit and sets P27E0 when the circuit is higher than expected, often because the control wire is shorted to battery voltage or the solenoid coil is open.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Control wire shorted to B+
  2. Open solenoid coil
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • Check-engine or transmission warning light
  • Harsh or delayed shifts
  • Transmission may enter limp mode
  • Difficulty changing gears

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and review transmission live data for solenoid T commands and shift or pressure faults to identify when the high-circuit reading appears.
  2. Inspect the solenoid T connector and harness for corrosion, loose pins, fluid contamination, damaged insulation, or contact with a power feed.
  3. With the circuit isolated as directed by the manufacturer, check the control wire for an open and for a short to battery voltage.
  4. Measure solenoid T coil resistance against the manufacturer's specification; an open reading can point to a failed coil.
  5. If the harness and coil pass, test the module output and connector terminals using the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure corroded or loose solenoid T connector terminals.
  • Repair the control wire if it is shorted to battery voltage or open.
  • Replace pressure control solenoid T if its coil is open or outside specification.
  • Repair the transmission control module driver only after confirming the solenoid and wiring are sound.

Can I keep driving?

Avoid driving if the transmission shifts harshly, slips, or enters limp mode, since unreliable pressure control can worsen transmission damage. If shifting remains normal, keep any driving limited and have the fault diagnosed soon.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
