What it means
The control line to pressure control solenoid E is open. The solenoid cannot be driven.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Pressure control solenoid E is an electrically operated valve that helps regulate transmission fluid pressure. The transmission control module monitors its control circuit and sets P2727 when it detects an open circuit, so it cannot drive solenoid E.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Open solenoid coil
- Broken control wire
Symptoms
- Check-engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh or delayed shifts
- Slipping or reduced drive
- Transmission may enter limp mode
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and any other transmission codes to see when the solenoid E circuit fault occurred and whether related faults are present.
- Inspect the transmission connector and the wiring for solenoid E for breaks, loose connections, corrosion, or damage.
- Check the solenoid E coil and its circuit for continuity, following the vehicle manufacturer's test procedure.
- If the coil is open, replace the solenoid or the serviceable solenoid assembly.
- If the coil passes, test the control wire between the transmission connector and control module for an open, then inspect the relevant connector terminals.
Common fixes
- Repair a broken solenoid E control wire.
- Clean, repair, or secure a loose or corroded connector terminal.
- Replace pressure control solenoid E if its coil is open.
- Repair an open in the circuit between the transmission and control module.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid hard acceleration and long trips because the transmission may shift harshly, slip, or enter limp mode. If drive is reduced or shifts become unreliable, stop somewhere safe and arrange help; continued slipping can worsen transmission damage.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
