What it means
Cylinder 12 pressure sensor above upper plausibility — open signal or short to B+. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test
How it works
The cylinder 12 pressure sensor sends a signal representing pressure changes in that cylinder to the engine controller. P2369 sets when the signal rises above its expected range, which can happen with an open signal path or a signal wire shorted to a supply.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal line shorted to supply
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- Rough running or misfire
- Reduced engine power
- Poor acceleration
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and note the engine conditions when the cylinder 12 signal went high.
- Check cylinder 12 pressure data on a scan tool to confirm whether the reading is stuck high or rises intermittently.
- Inspect the cylinder 12 sensor connector for corrosion, moisture, loose terminals, or pins that have backed out.
- Trace the sensor signal wire for pinching, chafing, or contact with a power source, and inspect its routing near the engine.
- Use the manufacturer's wiring diagram and test procedure to check for an open signal path or a short to supply, then test the sensor itself.
Common fixes
- Repair the cylinder 12 signal wire if it is pinched or shorted to a supply wire.
- Restore a sound connection at the cylinder 12 sensor connector, replacing damaged terminals or seals.
- Repair an open in the signal circuit if continuity testing identifies one.
- Replace the cylinder 12 pressure sensor if it fails the manufacturer's test after the wiring is checked.
Can I keep driving?
Keep driving only if the engine is running smoothly and power remains adequate; avoid heavy loads and acceleration until the fault is checked. Stop if rough running or power loss worsens, because the controller may not be able to assess cylinder 12 combustion correctly.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
