OBD-II fault code

P2367: Cylinder 12 Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

What it means

Cylinder 12 pressure sensor reads in range but plausibility check fails. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • Affects emissions; the car can fail an emissions test

How it works

The cylinder 12 pressure sensor measures pressure changes inside cylinder 12 so the engine controller can assess combustion. The controller sets P2367 when the signal remains within its allowed electrical range but does not match the pressure pattern it expects for cylinder 12.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Sensor signal implausible against engine model
  2. Sensor element aged beyond calibration window
  3. Sensor mounting loose - signal damping

Symptoms

  • Check-engine light
  • Rough running or misfire
  • Reduced engine power
  • Poor acceleration

How to diagnose it

  1. Save the freeze-frame data and compare cylinder 12 pressure readings with other cylinders and engine speed to see when the mismatch occurs.
  2. Watch cylinder 12 pressure data at idle and during a controlled speed change; check whether the trace follows engine operation smoothly.
  3. Inspect the cylinder 12 sensor mounting and connector for looseness, contamination, moisture, damaged seals, or pushed-back pins.
  4. Check the cylinder 12 sensor harness for chafing or poor routing, then gently move it while monitoring the live signal for changes.
  5. Test the sensor and its wiring against the manufacturer's procedure, and compare the pressure trace with an independent mechanical check if the signal remains implausible.

Common fixes

  • Secure the cylinder 12 sensor mounting if it is loose.
  • Clean and reconnect the cylinder 12 sensor connector, repairing damaged seals or terminals.
  • Repair chafed wiring or reroute the cylinder 12 sensor harness away from rubbing and heat.
  • Replace the cylinder 12 pressure sensor if its signal fails the manufacturer's tests.

Can I keep driving?

If the engine runs smoothly and the warning is steady, limit driving and avoid hard acceleration until diagnosed. Stop if misfiring or power loss becomes severe, since continued operation can worsen combustion and emissions problems.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
