What it means
A/C Compressor Motor Phase U Current Sensor Circuit High: the signal voltage is above the expected range. Often an open circuit or a short to supply voltage.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The phase U current sensor feeds the control module information about current in the A/C compressor motor's U phase. P0EB7 sets when the phase U signal rises above the expected range, which can happen with an open circuit or a signal shorted toward supply.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Current sensor failed
- Wiring fault
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check-engine or hybrid system warning light
- Air conditioning may not cool
- Cooling may be intermittent
How to diagnose it
- Review freeze-frame and live phase U data to confirm the high reading and check for related phase or compressor faults.
- Inspect the phase U connector for corrosion, pushed-back pins, looseness, or damaged wiring near the compressor.
- With the circuit made safe per service information, check for an open in the phase U signal path or a short to supply.
- Measure circuit continuity and inspect terminal contact quality against the manufacturer's specification.
- If wiring passes, test the phase U sensor and inverter using the specified diagnostic procedure.
Common fixes
- Secure the phase U connector and correct any poor terminal contact.
- Repair an open or short to supply in the phase U wiring.
- Replace the phase U current sensor if it continues to signal high with a verified circuit.
- Repair or replace the compressor inverter if tests isolate the fault there.
Can I keep driving?
The A/C may stop cooling or operate intermittently; avoid relying on it for defogging until diagnosed. If a hybrid-system warning or reduced-power condition appears, follow the vehicle's instructions and seek prompt service.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
