What it means
The drive motor inverter temperature sensor H signal is intermittent or erratic.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Inverter temperature sensor H measures temperature at its monitored point inside the drive motor inverter. P0E2C sets when the H signal is unstable or erratic, often because a loose connector, intermittent contact, or noisy ground reference disrupts the reading.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Sensor connector not seated
- Noisy ground reference
- Connector with intermittent contact under vibration
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced motor power or torque
- Possible limp mode or vehicle shutdown
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and watch sensor H's live reading for jumps or dropouts while comparing it with other inverter temperature readings.
- Power the vehicle down using its service instructions and check that sensor H's connector is fully seated, with clean, undamaged pins.
- Inspect the H sensor harness and ground-reference wiring for chafing, loose connections, or movement that could interrupt contact.
- Following the manufacturer's service procedure, gently move the accessible H harness while monitoring the signal for intermittent changes.
- If the harness and connectors pass, test sensor H and its ground reference for stable operation to the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Reseat and secure the sensor H connector.
- Clean or repair loose, corroded, or damaged H circuit terminals.
- Repair chafed wiring or a poor ground-reference connection.
- Replace sensor H if its signal remains erratic with sound wiring and connectors.
Can I keep driving?
Drive cautiously and avoid high-load acceleration because an intermittent H reading can cause reduced torque or limp mode. The vehicle may shut down if the system cannot manage inverter temperature reliably.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
