What it means
The drive motor inverter temperature sensor H circuit signal is below the expected range.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Inverter temperature sensor H reports temperature at its monitored point inside the drive motor inverter. P0E2A sets when the H circuit signal falls below its expected range, which can result from a signal short to ground or an internally shorted sensor.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Internal sensor short
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced motor power or torque
- Possible limp mode or vehicle shutdown
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and compare sensor H's live reading with the other inverter temperature readings for an implausibly low or fixed value.
- Power the vehicle down under its service instructions and inspect sensor H's connector and harness for damage, moisture, corrosion, or a pin touching ground.
- Use the manufacturer's wiring diagram to check whether the sensor H signal wire is shorted to ground.
- Check the sensor H connector terminals for high contact resistance or poor pin fit using the specified test procedure.
- If the harness and connector pass, test sensor H for an internal short and check the module input according to the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure corroded or loose sensor H connector pins.
- Repair a sensor H signal wire that is shorted to ground.
- Replace sensor H if it tests internally shorted or out of specification.
- Repair the inverter control module input circuit if the sensor and wiring pass.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid demanding driving because the vehicle may limit motor torque or enter limp mode when it cannot trust sensor H's temperature. If power drops or a hybrid-system warning appears, stop safely and arrange service.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
