What it means
The drive motor inverter temperature sensor H circuit signal is above the expected range.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Inverter temperature sensor H measures temperature at its monitored point in the drive motor inverter. P0E2B sets when the H circuit signal rises above its expected range, which can happen if the signal is shorted to battery positive or the sensor circuit is open.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to B+
- Open sensor
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced motor power or torque
- Possible limp mode or vehicle shutdown
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and compare sensor H's live reading with other inverter temperatures to confirm whether it is implausibly high or fixed.
- Power the vehicle down according to its service instructions and inspect sensor H's connector and harness for corrosion, damage, a loose pin, or contact with a power feed.
- Check the H signal wire for a short to battery positive using the manufacturer's wiring diagram and test procedure.
- Test the sensor H circuit for an open and check connector pins for high contact resistance.
- If the circuit and sensor test correctly, check the inverter control module input using the manufacturer's diagnostic procedure.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure corroded or loose sensor H connector pins.
- Repair a signal wire shorted to battery positive or an open in the H circuit.
- Replace sensor H if it tests open or outside the manufacturer's specification.
- Repair the inverter control module input circuit if the sensor and wiring test correctly.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid normal driving if the vehicle has reduced torque or an EV/hybrid warning, as limp mode or shutdown may follow. Stop safely if power drops suddenly and arrange service.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
