What it means
The hybrid/EV battery temperature sensor F circuit signal is intermittent or erratic.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
Temperature sensor F supplies a battery temperature signal to the hybrid/EV control module. The module watches for a stable, plausible signal as conditions change. P0C37 sets when sensor F's circuit signal cuts out or fluctuates erratically, which can happen with a loose connection or intermittent wiring fault.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Loose or poor sensor connector
- Intermittent wiring fault
- Faulty temperature sensor
Symptoms
- EV/hybrid system warning light on
- Reduced power output or limp mode
- Charging may fail or be slowed
- Reduced electric range
How to diagnose it
- Check freeze-frame and scan-tool history for changes in sensor F's reading around the time the fault set.
- Compare live sensor F data with nearby battery temperature sensors while monitoring for sudden jumps or dropouts.
- Inspect the sensor F connector and harness for looseness, corrosion, chafing, or movement that could interrupt the circuit.
- With the manufacturer's procedure, check circuit continuity and signal stability while carefully moving the accessible harness.
- Repair the intermittent connection or wiring fault, or replace sensor F if its signal drops out during testing, then confirm stable data.
Common fixes
- Reseat and secure the sensor F connector; clean or repair its terminals.
- Repair chafed or intermittently open sensor F wiring.
- Replace sensor F if it produces an erratic signal during the specified test.
Can I keep driving?
Avoid rapid charging and heavy battery demand until the intermittent reading is fixed, since temperature monitoring or charging may be limited unpredictably. Stop safely if the warning returns with reduced power or a battery temperature alert.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
