What it means
Same as P05A8 on shutter B. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Active grille shutter B's actuator receives power through a supply voltage circuit. This code sets when the control module detects that the supply is above its expected range, which can disrupt B's operation or cause erratic behavior.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Supply voltage above design range
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
- Supply wire pinched against B+ source
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- Shutter B may stop responding or behave erratically
- Cooling fan may run more often
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check shutter B's response to a scan-tool command while the fault is active.
- Inspect the supply harness for pinching or damage that could connect it to battery power or another supply.
- Check B's connector for corrosion, poor contact, or terminals displaced from their correct positions.
- Measure the supply circuit and vehicle charging voltage under the conditions specified by the manufacturer.
- If the harness and charging system are within specification, test the actuator and module for an internal fault that raises the supply reading.
Common fixes
- Repair a pinched supply wire that is contacting an unintended power source.
- Clean or repair corroded or damaged connector terminals at shutter B.
- Correct a charging-system fault if vehicle voltage is above the manufacturer's specification.
- Replace a faulty shutter B actuator or repair a module with a confirmed internal fault.
Can I keep driving?
Drive cautiously only while engine temperature remains normal, since shutter B may stop responding and cooling fans may run more often. Avoid heavy loads or prolonged idling, and stop if the engine overheats.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
