What it means
Active Grille Air Shutter B Supply Voltage Circuit Open: the circuit is open. Active grille shutters manage airflow for engine cooling and aerodynamics.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Active grille shutter B's actuator needs a supply voltage circuit to operate the grille panel. The control module sets this code when it detects an interruption in that supply path, leaving B without the expected electrical feed.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Supply fuse blown
- Pin pushed back out of connector body
- Cracked solder joint inside the module or sensor
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- Shutter B may not operate
- Cooling fan may run more often
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check whether shutter B operates when commanded with a scan tool.
- Inspect the supply fuse identified by the manufacturer's wiring information and check for a blown fuse.
- Inspect B's supply wiring and connector for a break, loose plug, or terminal pushed back in the connector.
- Check supply-circuit continuity and verify that voltage reaches the actuator as specified by the manufacturer.
- If the external supply circuit is intact, check the actuator or controlling module for an internal open.
Common fixes
- Replace a blown fuse after checking for a short or overload that caused it to fail.
- Reconnect the plug or repair a pushed-back terminal in shutter B's supply circuit.
- Repair a broken or damaged supply wire.
- Replace a failed actuator or repair a module with a confirmed internal open.
Can I keep driving?
You can usually drive cautiously if engine temperature remains normal, but watch the temperature gauge because shutter B may not operate. Stop if the engine overheats, and avoid heavy loads or long idling until cooling airflow is reliable.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
