What is the Toyota Prius+?

The Prius+ is a seven-seat hybrid MPV that gives Toyota’s Prius family a roomier, people-carrier format. Toyota introduced it as Europe’s first full-hybrid seven-seat MPV and as its first non-plug-in hybrid to use a lithium-ion battery pack.

It has one generation, the XW40, sold in the EU from 2012–2021 and listed in the UK through 2018. Its three rows of seats give it space for passengers and luggage while retaining the Prius hybrid powertrain.

Engines and power

The listed hybrid powertrain is 1.8 L. EU figures give an output of 73 kW (99 PS), and the UK and France listings also describe hybrid versions.
