What is the CUPRA Leon?
The CUPRA Leon is a compact car offered as a five-door hatchback and a Sportstourer estate. Both body styles bring a practical cabin and boot to CUPRA’s performance-focused take on the Leon. CUPRA grew out of SEAT’s performance division and became a distinct marque.
The first CUPRA Leon generation, code KL, began in 2020. It gave the Leon its own CUPRA identity, with distinct styling and a digital-focused cabin.
Engines and power
The European Union range includes 1.4-litre engines rated at 110 kW (150 PS), with petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. In the UK, engines span 1.4 to 2.0 litres and outputs range from 110 kW (150 PS) to 310 kW (421 PS). UK versions include petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.
The plug-in hybrid combines a petrol engine with electric drive and can be charged from an external power source. Conventional petrol and diesel versions do not need charging.
How economical is the CUPRA Leon?
In EU figures, the lowest listed consumption for petrol, diesel and hybrid versions is 1.4 L/100 km on WLTP. The plug-in hybrid’s lowest official weighted figure is also 1.4 L/100 km. That figure assumes some driving is electric, so charging and driving patterns affect real-world consumption.
In the UK, the lowest listed consumption for petrol, diesel and hybrid versions is 5.3 L/100 km on WLTP. The plug-in hybrid’s lowest weighted figure is 5.1 L/100 km. Test procedures differ between markets: Europe uses WLTP and has also used NEDC, while the USA uses EPA testing and Canada uses a 5-cycle procedure.
Where was the CUPRA Leon sold?
EU registration figures cover 2020 to 2025, and UK versions are listed from 2021 to 2026. European Union versions include petrol, diesel, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models; UK versions include petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.
