Who makes Karma cars?

Karma is an American luxury carmaker based in Southern California and owned by China’s Wanxiang Group. It grew out of the assets of Fisker Automotive, acquired by Wanxiang after Fisker’s collapse. The company became known for the Revero, a sleek, low-slung sedan that carried forward the earlier Fisker Karma’s idea of combining electric drive with a petrol-powered generator.

Karma models and the years they were sold

The two model lines listed here are the Revero and GS 6. The Revero spans 2017–2021, while the GS 6 appears for 2021. That makes the Revero the longer-running name in this period, with the GS 6 joining at its end.

The GS 6 marked a change in naming for Karma’s sedan range, while keeping the same broad idea: a luxury four-door with electric propulsion and an onboard petrol engine to generate electricity. It offered a way to drive on electric power while retaining the option of using petrol for longer journeys.

Electrification and what the range is known for

Karma’s identity in this period is closely tied to extended-range electric driving. The Revero and GS 6 are associated with a plug-in hybrid approach: electric motors drive the car, while a petrol engine acts as a generator when needed. That distinguishes the experience from a conventional petrol sedan, while still giving drivers a fuel-powered means of extending a trip.

The Revero’s flowing roofline and long, low stance give it a distinctive grand-touring character. It sits at the heart of Karma’s small range as a luxury sedan, aimed at drivers drawn to electric driving and a more unusual design.

Where Karma cars appear

Karma appears in official registration and efficiency figures for the European Economic Area, as well as in the United States and Canada. The Revero is the largest Karma model in EU registration figures in 2020, with 12 registrations. The markets use different test procedures: Europe uses WLTP or, for some older figures, NEDC; the US uses EPA ratings; and Canada uses the NRCan five-cycle test. Results from these systems are not directly interchangeable.
