What is the Hummer H3?

The H3 is a five-door SUV and the smallest of Hummer’s original models. Its upright shape and off-road styling brought the brand’s look to a more compact vehicle than the H1 and H2. It suited drivers who wanted a distinctive SUV with a clear focus on travelling beyond paved roads.

Hummer began with civilian versions of the Humvee, while General Motors developed the H2 and H3 as civilian models. The H3’s first generation ran from 2006 to 2010.

Engines and power

The H3 was offered with petrol engines. The recorded engine range was 3.5 L to 5.3 L in the United States and Canada, 2.7 L to 3.7 L in the United Kingdom, and 3.7 L to 5.3 L in the European Union. Some North American versions could also use E85 flex fuel.

The range included a five-cylinder engine and V8 versions. In EU registration figures, the 5.3 L petrol version rated at 224 kW (305 PS) was among the recorded sellers.

How economical is the Hummer H3?
