What is the Ferrari 456?

The Ferrari 456 is a front-engined grand touring coupé with a 2+2 cabin: room for two in the front and occasional passengers in the rear. Pininfarina gave it a long bonnet and an elegant shape rooted in Ferrari’s V12 GT tradition. It brought a 2+2 V12 model back to the range after a gap of several years.

Ferrari 456 generations

The 456, known internally as F116, ran from 1992 to 2003. Ferrari updated it as the 456M GT and 456M GTA in 1998, with changes to the exterior and cabin. The GT had a manual gearbox, while the GTA used an automatic.

Engines and fuel consumption

The 456’s front-mounted petrol V12 had a displacement of 5.5 litres. US EPA figures for 1995–2003 give a combined rating of 11 MPG, equivalent to 21.4 L/100 km. Canada’s NRCan figures for the same years list 21.3 L/100 km on the 5-cycle test. The EPA and Canadian procedures differ, so the results are not directly interchangeable.

Where was the Ferrari 456 sold?

The Ferrari 456 appears in official US EPA and Canadian NRCan figures. Both list petrol versions with a 5.5-litre engine.
