What is the Cadillac ELR?

The ELR is a two-door luxury coupe with plug-in hybrid drive. Its coupe shape brought an electrified powertrain into Cadillac’s range, pairing personal-car styling with the ability to charge from an external power source.

Generation, engine and powertrain

The first and only ELR generation was sold from 2014 to 2016. It used GM’s Voltec plug-in hybrid system, pairing electric drive with a 1.4 L petrol engine. The engine is part of the hybrid system, and the official consumption figures account for some driving on electric power.

How economical is the Cadillac ELR?

The EPA’s official weighted plug-in hybrid figure is 7.1 L/100 km for US versions from 2014 to 2016. Canada’s NRCan 5-cycle figure is 7.2 L/100 km for those years. Both weighted figures assume that part of the driving is electric. The EPA and Canadian 5-cycle procedures differ, so the results are not directly comparable.

Where was the Cadillac ELR sold?

The ELR’s official figures are listed for the United States and Canada. This first-generation coupe was sold from 2014 to 2016.
