OBD-II fault code

U0267: Lost Communication With Image Processing Sensor C

What it means

The vehicle bus reports loss of communication with image processing sensor C. ADAS functions that depend on this camera (lane keeping, traffic-sign recognition, forward collision warning) may be inhibited.

How it works

Image processing sensor C analyzes camera input and exchanges information with other vehicle modules over the network. U0267 sets when the expected messages from sensor C are not received, potentially inhibiting the assistance features assigned to this sensor; it does not mean sensors A or B have also failed.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Bus wiring open or shorted
  2. Module without power or ground
  3. Module failed

Symptoms

  • Multiple warning lights may illuminate
  • Affected modules may go into limp mode or shut down
  • Specific functions inoperative depending on module
  • Diagnostic tools may show communication faults

How to diagnose it

  1. Scan all modules and capture current codes and freeze-frame details, noting whether U0267 is accompanied by other sensor or network faults.
  2. Check scan-tool communication with sensor C and identify which driver-assistance features the vehicle reports as unavailable.
  3. Inspect sensor C's lens area, connector, and visible wiring for obstruction, impact, water, corrosion, or connector damage.
  4. Check sensor C's power and ground circuits using the manufacturer's wiring specifications.
  5. If the supply checks pass, test its network wiring for an open or short and verify any calibration requirements after repair.

Common fixes

  • Clear an obstruction or reseat sensor C's connector if that resolves the visible issue.
  • Repair damaged or corroded wiring to sensor C.
  • Restore a failed module power or ground circuit.
  • Replace and configure sensor C only after circuit tests pass, then carry out required calibration.

Can I keep driving?

Assume features that use sensor C may be disabled, and do not depend on lane, sign, or collision assistance until the fault is resolved. Keep full attention on the road and respond to any additional brake or steering warnings by stopping safely.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
