What it means
The reporting module has lost communication with door switch F. It sets this code when expected switch messages are not received for a specified time.
How it works
Door switch F communicates whether its associated door is open or closed to other vehicle modules. U0220 sets when the reporting module misses the expected network messages from switch F for a specified period.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Switch power or ground fault
- Damaged or corroded wiring or connectors
- CAN bus fault
- Door switch F failure
- Low battery voltage
Symptoms
- Door status may display incorrectly
- Door warning or courtesy light may malfunction
- Other communication codes
How to diagnose it
- Read all module codes and freeze-frame data to check whether U0220 is isolated or accompanied by low voltage or broader network faults.
- Open and close the door associated with switch F while checking whether its status display and courtesy light follow the door consistently.
- Inspect switch F's connector and the wiring through the door flex point for corrosion, loose connections, or physical damage.
- With the wiring diagram, verify power and ground at switch F and check its network conductors for opens or shorts.
- If supply and network wiring are correct, test switch F's operation and communication using the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Charge the battery if low voltage is recorded.
- Clean and reconnect a loose or corroded switch F plug.
- Repair damaged door wiring or restore a failed power or ground connection.
- Correct a confirmed network wiring fault affecting switch F.
- Replace switch F if it does not pass its specified test with the circuit intact.
Can I keep driving?
Driving is generally possible only if the door closes and latches properly; check it before moving off. Door F's status may be displayed incorrectly, and its warning or courtesy light may not behave normally.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
