What it means
The reporting module has lost communication with door window motor A. It sets this code when expected messages from that motor are not received for a specified time.
How it works
Door window motor A is part of the power-window system and may communicate its status or operation over the vehicle network. U0222 means the reporting module did not receive expected messages from motor A for the specified time; it does not by itself prove the motor has failed.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Motor power or ground fault
- Damaged or corroded wiring or connectors
- CAN bus fault
- Door window motor A failure
- Low battery voltage
Symptoms
- Power window does not respond
- Window control operates intermittently
- Other communication codes
How to diagnose it
- Scan all modules and review freeze-frame data for low voltage or other network codes that may have interrupted communication with motor A.
- Test the window controlled by motor A from its normal switch and note whether it is dead, intermittent, or responds only from another control.
- Inspect motor A's connector and door harness for water, corrosion, loose terminals, or damage where the harness bends.
- Using the vehicle wiring information, check the motor's power and ground and inspect its network wiring for opens or shorts.
- If supply and wiring are intact, test motor A and its control communication following the manufacturer's procedure.
Common fixes
- Charge the battery if low voltage is present.
- Clean or secure a loose or corroded motor A connector.
- Repair damaged door wiring or restore the motor's power or ground.
- Repair a confirmed network wiring fault affecting motor A.
- Replace motor A or its integrated control component only if testing identifies it as faulty.
Can I keep driving?
You can usually drive with a window fault, but secure the window before driving and avoid relying on it for ventilation or visibility. A window stuck open can expose the cabin to weather or make the vehicle less secure.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
