OBD-II fault code

P2EA0: Charge Port Door B Unlock Control Circuit High

What it means

The charge port door B unlock control reports a circuit high condition. Door cannot be commanded to unlock reliably.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The charge port door B unlock actuator uses a monitored electrical circuit to release the door on command. This code sets when the module sees a signal higher than expected in that circuit. A short to a higher voltage, an open or resistive connection, or an internal actuator fault can cause the abnormal high reading.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Signal circuit shorted to voltage
  2. Open or high-resistance wiring
  3. Internal actuator or circuit fault

Symptoms

  • Charge-port door B may not unlock reliably

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and check for related charge port door B circuit codes that may help identify a shared wiring issue.
  2. Command door B to unlock and note whether the actuator moves or remains unresponsive.
  3. Inspect the actuator connector and harness for damaged insulation, corrosion, moisture, or contact with another powered wire.
  4. Check circuit continuity and connections for an open or high-resistance fault using the manufacturer's wiring information.
  5. Test the circuit for a short to voltage and compare its response during an unlock command with the manufacturer's specification.
  6. Test the actuator according to the manufacturer's procedure and replace it if its internal circuit is faulty.

Common fixes

  • Secure or clean a loose or corroded door B actuator connector.
  • Repair wiring shorted to voltage or an open or high-resistance connection.
  • Replace the charge port door B unlock actuator if it fails its circuit test.

Can I keep driving?

Door B may not unlock, so access to that charging inlet can be interrupted. Avoid forcing the door or using the connector to pry it open.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
