What it means
The charge port door A unlock control reports a unlock control circuit high condition. Door cannot be commanded to unlock reliably.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
The module monitors the electrical level in the charge port door A unlock actuator circuit while it controls the door. This code sets when the circuit level is higher than expected, which can result from a wire shorted to battery power, an open actuator, or a poor connector connection.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Wire shorted to B+
- Open actuator
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Charge status indicator shows fault
- Charging may not start or interrupts
- Slower-than-expected charge rate
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check charge-port status data to confirm the fault is associated with an unlock command for door A.
- Inspect the door A actuator wiring for damaged insulation or contact with a battery power feed.
- Check the actuator connector for corrosion, loose terminals, or pins that are pushed back or not making contact.
- Test the actuator and its circuit for an open, and check for an unintended connection to battery power using the manufacturer's procedure.
- Compare circuit readings and actuator operation with the manufacturer's specification before replacing parts.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure poor connections at the door A actuator connector.
- Repair wiring shorted to battery power in the door A unlock circuit.
- Repair an open wire or damaged connector that interrupts the actuator circuit.
- Replace the actuator if it is confirmed open internally.
Can I keep driving?
The door may not unlock, so charging can be unavailable or interrupted. Avoid relying on the vehicle for a trip that requires charging until door A operation is restored.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
