OBD-II fault code

P0CD2: Charge Port Door A Unlock Control Circuit Performance

What it means

The control module detected that the charge port door A unlock control circuit is not performing as expected. The fault may prevent the door from unlocking as commanded.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

Charge port door A has an electrically controlled unlock actuator, and the vehicle module checks whether the actuator responds to an unlock command as expected. This code sets when the response is too slow or otherwise does not match the expected performance, such as when a high-resistance connection weakens the circuit.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Actuator response slower than expected
  2. High-resistance contact

Symptoms

  • Charge status indicator shows fault
  • Charging may not start or interrupts
  • Slower-than-expected charge rate

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and check charge-port status data to see when door A failed to respond to an unlock command.
  2. Command the door A unlock actuator with a scan tool, if supported, and note whether its response is delayed or incomplete.
  3. Inspect the door A actuator, latch, and nearby wiring for damage, binding, contamination, or a loose connector.
  4. Check the actuator connector and terminals for corrosion or poor contact that could add resistance.
  5. Measure the door A unlock circuit and actuator response while commanded, and compare results with the manufacturer's specification.

Common fixes

  • Clean and securely reconnect corroded or loose actuator connector terminals.
  • Repair damaged wiring or a high-resistance connection in the door A unlock circuit.
  • Free a binding charge-port door latch or correct actuator installation if it is restricting movement.
  • Replace the door A unlock actuator if it responds too slowly despite a sound circuit.

Can I keep driving?

If the door will not unlock, charging may be unavailable or may stop unexpectedly; avoid relying on the vehicle for a trip that requires charging. Arrange repair soon, especially if the door is stuck closed or charging is interrupted.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
