OBD-II fault code

P2E2D: Battery Charger A Module Supply Voltage Low

What it means

The supply voltage to battery charger A control module is low. Charger may not start or operate reliably.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Battery charger A's control module needs an adequate supply to start and manage charging. P2E2D sets when the monitored supply falls below the expected range, often because its fuse or wiring cannot deliver power reliably.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Module supply fuse blown
  2. Wiring fault

Symptoms

  • Charge status indicator shows fault
  • Charging may not start or interrupts
  • Slower-than-expected charge rate

How to diagnose it

  1. Save freeze-frame data and check live charger A module supply voltage during a charging attempt to confirm the low condition.
  2. Check for other low-voltage or charger supply codes and note whether charging fails to start or stops after it begins.
  3. With the vehicle powered down as specified by the manufacturer, inspect the charger A supply fuse, connectors, wiring, and ground for damage, corrosion, or looseness.
  4. Check the fuse and measure supply at the charger module and its source, looking for a voltage drop or open circuit against the manufacturer's wiring information.
  5. If power and ground reach the module within specification, follow the manufacturer's procedure to test the charger module itself.

Common fixes

  • Replace a blown charger A supply fuse only after checking for the cause of the failure.
  • Clean and secure loose or corroded supply and ground connections.
  • Repair an open or damaged charger A supply wire.
  • Repair or replace the charger A module if its supply input is correct but the fault persists.

Can I keep driving?

Charging may not start or may stop, reducing available range; use a confirmed working charging option before a trip. This fault alone does not establish a propulsion problem, but heed any separate EV system or reduced-power warnings.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
