OBD-II fault code

P2E2F: Battery Charger B Module Supply Voltage Performance

What it means

The supply voltage to battery charger B control module is performance. Charger may not start or operate reliably.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

Battery charger B's control module needs a stable supply to start and manage charging. P2E2F sets when the monitored supply behaves outside the expected performance pattern, even if it is not consistently classified as simply too low or too high.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Module supply voltage drifted
  2. High-resistance contact

Symptoms

  • Charge status indicator shows fault
  • Charging may not start or interrupts
  • Slower-than-expected charge rate

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and check live battery charger B module supply voltage during charging attempts to see when the performance fault occurs.
  2. Check whether the fault appears only when charging starts or is interrupted, and look for other supply-voltage or charger codes.
  3. With the vehicle powered down as specified by the manufacturer, inspect charger B's power connector, wiring, and ground for looseness, corrosion, or heat damage.
  4. Measure supply voltage at the charger B module and at its source under the conditions specified by the manufacturer, checking for a drop across high-resistance connections.
  5. If supply and connections meet specification, follow the manufacturer's tests to determine whether the charger module's voltage monitoring or internal supply is faulty.

Common fixes

  • Clean and secure a corroded or loose charger B supply or ground connection.
  • Repair high-resistance or damaged supply wiring.
  • Replace or repair the charger B module if its supply performance remains faulty after circuit checks.

Can I keep driving?

The main risk is unreliable or interrupted charging, which can leave the battery with less range than expected. Avoid relying on a charge session until it completes normally; stop driving if separate propulsion warnings or reduced power appear.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
