What it means
The ECM detects a circuit high fault on the battery charger b coupler lock position sensor circuit. Reading cannot be used reliably for control.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
The battery charger B coupler lock position sensor circuit tells the control module whether the coupler is locked. This code sets when the signal rises above its expected range, which can occur if the signal is connected to battery power, the sensor circuit is open, or connector contact is poor.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Signal wire shorted to B+
- Open sensor
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Charge status indicator shows fault
- Charging may not start or interrupts
- Slower-than-expected charge rate
How to diagnose it
- Review freeze-frame data and related codes to confirm the high signal is from charger B's coupler lock position sensor.
- Inspect the sensor connector and visible wiring for an unplugged connection, damaged conductors, or signs of corrosion.
- Check that the connector is fully seated and that terminals are present and not pushed back.
- Use scan-tool live data to see whether the position signal remains high while the coupler lock is operated normally.
- Test the circuit for an open or short to power and check sensor response to the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Reconnect a loose or disconnected sensor connector.
- Repair an open wire or damaged connector terminal in the sensor circuit.
- Repair wiring shorted to a power feed.
- Replace a failed coupler lock position sensor if testing confirms it.
Can I keep driving?
Charging may be disabled or interrupted because the vehicle cannot confirm charger B's coupler lock position. Do not bypass the lock or force the coupler, and stop charging if the connection does not lock securely.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
