What it means
The A/C request A circuit has a detected electrical fault. The code does not establish whether the request is missing or how the vehicle responds.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
The A/C request A circuit carries a request from the HVAC controls or module so the powertrain control module can coordinate A/C operation. P2519 sets when the control module detects an electrical fault in that request A circuit, without specifying whether the request is absent or how the system responds.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Open or shorted A/C request wire
- HVAC module not transmitting the request
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- A/C may not engage
- A/C controls may respond inconsistently
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check live A/C request status while operating the A/C controls to see whether request A changes.
- Inspect the request A wiring and connectors between the HVAC module and control module for loose plugs, corrosion, or damage.
- Use the wiring diagram to check the request A circuit for opens and shorts.
- Verify circuit supply, ground, and signal behavior at the relevant module connectors using the manufacturer's procedure.
- If the wiring passes, check whether the HVAC module is transmitting the request and whether the receiving module recognizes it.
Common fixes
- Reconnect loose A/C request A connectors and repair damaged wiring.
- Clean or repair corroded or loose terminals in the request circuit.
- Repair an open or short in the A/C request A wire.
- Repair or replace the HVAC module only if its request output fails the manufacturer's test.
Can I keep driving?
You can generally drive if the vehicle runs normally, but the A/C may not engage or may respond inconsistently. Check that the windshield can still be kept clear before driving in damp or cold conditions.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
