What it means
The A/C refrigerant pressure sensor B circuit has a detected electrical fault. The code does not identify which component or wire is at fault.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
A/C refrigerant pressure sensor B reports pressure to the control module through an electrical circuit. The module sets P2515 when it detects an electrical fault in that sensor B circuit; the code does not pinpoint the sensor or wiring as the cause.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Open or shorted wiring to the sensor
- Failed sensor element
Symptoms
- Check-engine light
- A/C may not cool
- A/C may switch on and off unexpectedly
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and check live data for pressure sensor B and related A/C status to see when the fault occurs.
- With the system off, inspect sensor B, its connector, and nearby wiring for loose plugs, damaged insulation, corrosion, or signs of rubbing.
- Check the sensor B circuit for open wires or shorts, following the vehicle wiring diagram and the manufacturer's test procedure.
- Verify the sensor's supply, ground, and signal circuits against the manufacturer's specification.
- If wiring and connections pass, test sensor B as specified by the manufacturer and compare its output with the pressure reading from approved A/C service equipment.
Common fixes
- Reconnect the sensor B plug and repair damaged wiring or terminals.
- Clean or repair corroded or loose connector contacts.
- Repair an open or short in the sensor B circuit.
- Replace sensor B if it fails the manufacturer's test.
Can I keep driving?
You can generally drive if the vehicle otherwise runs normally, but the A/C may not cool or may cycle unpredictably. Avoid relying on it for demisting in conditions where clear windows are essential.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
