OBD-II fault code

P0EE6: A/C Refrigerant Distribution Valve B Control Circuit High

What it means

The A/C refrigerant distribution valve B reports a control circuit high condition. Wiring faults of this kind typically come from chafing, water ingress at connector seals, or pin push-back — a wiggle test on the harness while the code is active often confirms the location.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

A/C refrigerant distribution valve B controls refrigerant flow through part of the air-conditioning system. The control module monitors its electrical control circuit and sets this code when the signal is higher than expected, which can result from a short to battery voltage, an open coil, or a poor connection.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Wire shorted to B+
  2. Coil open
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • A/C warning light or check-engine light
  • Air conditioning may cool poorly or intermittently

How to diagnose it

  1. Scan for related A/C codes and save freeze-frame data, noting whether valve B was commanded when P0EE6 set.
  2. Inspect valve B’s connector and wiring for damage, moisture, corrosion, loose terminals, or contact with a power feed.
  3. Check live valve-command data, if available, and gently move the valve B harness to see whether the circuit reading changes.
  4. Use the wiring diagram to test the valve B control wire for a short to battery voltage and check for an open or high-resistance connection.
  5. Test valve B’s coil and circuit against the manufacturer’s specification to distinguish an open coil from a harness fault.

Common fixes

  • Repair wiring shorted to battery voltage or an open in valve B’s control circuit.
  • Clean or repair corroded, loose, or pushed-back connector terminals at valve B.
  • Replace valve B if its coil is open or fails the manufacturer’s electrical checks.
  • Clear the code and verify commanded valve operation and A/C cooling.

Can I keep driving?

Driving is generally possible if the vehicle has no other warnings or operating problems, but A/C may cool poorly or intermittently. Do not rely on the A/C for defogging until it has been checked.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
