What it means
An open or other circuit fault is detected in the charge status indicator control circuit. The indicator may not operate as intended.
How it works
The charge status indicator control circuit carries the signal used to operate the charging status lamp or display. P0D2B sets when the monitored circuit is open or otherwise faulty, so the indicator may be dark or show charging status incorrectly even if charging itself is unaffected.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Open in indicator wire
- Indicator lamp burnt out
- Pin pushed back out of connector body
Symptoms
- Charge status indicator may not illuminate or may display incorrectly
How to diagnose it
- Check whether the indicator is completely dark, intermittent, or displaying a status that conflicts with the vehicle's charging data.
- Inspect the indicator and its connector for a loose fit, damage, or corrosion.
- Look for a pushed-back terminal or open wire in the indicator control circuit, especially at connector and harness bends.
- Test circuit continuity and check for an open between the indicator and its control module using the manufacturer's wiring information.
- If the wiring and indicator are intact, test the control output and indicator operation to the manufacturer's specification.
Common fixes
- Reconnect a loose indicator connector.
- Repair an open or damaged indicator control wire.
- Reseat or replace a pushed-back or damaged connector terminal.
- Replace a failed charge status lamp or indicator assembly.
Can I keep driving?
The main concern is that you may not be able to trust the charge status indicator; confirm charging through the vehicle's other available status information before relying on it. If the vehicle also stops charging or shows additional electrical warnings, stop the session and arrange diagnosis.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
