OBD-II fault code

P0D2C: Charge Status Indicator A Control Circuit/Open

What it means

An open or other circuit fault is detected in the control circuit for charge status indicator A. The indicator may not operate as intended.

How it works

Charge status indicator A is the vehicle's commanded display for a charging condition, such as charging in progress or another status defined by the vehicle. The control module monitors the indicator's control circuit and sets this code when it detects an open or another circuit fault that can prevent the indicator from showing the intended status.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Open in indicator wire
  2. Indicator lamp burnt out
  3. Pin pushed back out of connector body

Symptoms

  • Charge status indicator may not illuminate or may display incorrectly

How to diagnose it

  1. Use a scan tool to check for related charging-system codes and freeze-frame data, which can show when the indicator fault was detected.
  2. Check whether charge status indicator A illuminates or displays the expected status during the vehicle's normal indicator check or charging operation.
  3. Inspect the indicator and its connector for damage, and check for a lamp failure if this vehicle uses a replaceable lamp.
  4. Inspect the indicator wiring and connector for breaks, loose terminals, or a pin pushed back into the connector body.
  5. With the circuit identified from vehicle service information, test continuity and control operation against the manufacturer's specification to locate the open.

Common fixes

  • Reseat the charge status indicator A connector.
  • Repair an open or damaged wire in the indicator circuit.
  • Repair or replace a pushed-back or damaged connector terminal.
  • Replace the failed indicator lamp or indicator assembly, as applicable.

Can I keep driving?

If the vehicle charges normally and no other warnings are present, the fault may only prevent the status display from working; verify charging by the vehicle's normal method. Do not rely on indicator A to confirm charging until it is repaired.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
