OBD-II fault code

P0CCE: Charge Port Door Position Sensor Circuit Low

What it means

The control module detected a low signal condition in the charge port door position sensor circuit. The effect on charging or door operation depends on the vehicle.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light

How it works

The charge port door A position sensor sends a signal that lets the module determine whether the door is open or closed. This code sets when that signal is below its expected range, commonly because the signal wire is grounded or the sensor is internally shorted.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Signal wire shorted to ground
  2. Internal sensor short
  3. Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance

Symptoms

  • Charge status indicator shows fault
  • Charging may not start or interrupts
  • Slower-than-expected charge rate

How to diagnose it

  1. Read freeze-frame data and monitor the door A position signal while opening and closing the door; note whether it stays unusually low.
  2. Inspect the position sensor connector and harness for corrosion, damaged pins, or a signal wire rubbed against ground.
  3. Check sensor supply and ground connections using the wiring diagram and compare them with the manufacturer's specification.
  4. Disconnect the sensor as directed by the vehicle wiring information and check whether the low signal remains, helping isolate a sensor short from a harness fault.
  5. Test the sensor and signal circuit against the manufacturer's specification, then verify the module input if both pass.

Common fixes

  • Clean corroded terminals and secure the sensor connector.
  • Repair a signal wire shorted to ground.
  • Replace an internally shorted charge port door A position sensor.
  • Repair the module input circuit if the sensor and wiring test correctly.

Can I keep driving?

Driving is generally possible if the charge port door is secure, but the vehicle may not recognize its position and could block or interrupt charging. Ensure the door is shut before driving.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
