What it means
The active engine mount A control circuit reports a control circuit low condition. Vibration damping cannot be modulated.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Engine mount A uses an electrical actuator so the control module can adjust how it absorbs engine vibration. This code sets when the mount A control circuit signal is lower than expected, which can happen if the wire is shorted to ground, the actuator is internally shorted, or a corroded connection restricts the circuit.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Control wire shorted to ground
- Actuator internal short
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check-engine warning light on
- More engine vibration at idle or when starting and stopping
- Increased vibration felt in the cabin
How to diagnose it
- Save freeze-frame data and review mount-control live data to establish when the low-circuit fault occurs and whether it is constant or intermittent.
- Inspect mount A's connector and harness for corrosion, moisture, chafing, or a wire touching ground.
- Check the connector terminals for corrosion or poor contact that could raise resistance in the mount A circuit.
- With the circuit isolated, check the control wire for a short to ground using the vehicle wiring diagram.
- Test the mount A actuator and circuit against the manufacturer's specification to distinguish an internal short from a wiring fault.
Common fixes
- Clean and secure corroded mount A connector terminals, replacing damaged pins as needed.
- Repair control wiring shorted to ground or damaged insulation.
- Replace the mount A actuator if it has an internal short.
Can I keep driving?
You can usually drive cautiously if the vehicle otherwise behaves normally, but expect increased vibration at idle and during starts and stops. Arrange diagnosis soon, and stop if engine movement becomes excessive or another warning appears.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
