What it means
The active engine mount A control circuit reports a control circuit high condition. Vibration damping cannot be modulated.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
How it works
Engine mount A has an electrical actuator that lets the control module vary vibration damping. This code sets when the mount A control circuit reads higher than expected, such as from a wire shorted to battery power or a circuit fault that leaves the actuator without a proper path.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Control wire shorted to B+
- Open actuator
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check-engine warning light on
- More engine vibration at idle or when starting and stopping
- Increased vibration felt in the cabin
How to diagnose it
- Capture freeze-frame data and check mount-control live data to see when the high-circuit fault appears and whether mount A responds.
- Inspect mount A's wiring for damage, particularly insulation rubbed through against a powered wire or terminal.
- Check the mount A connector for corrosion, poor seating, or damaged pins that could interrupt the actuator circuit.
- With the circuit isolated, test the control wire for an unintended connection to battery power, following the wiring diagram.
- Test the actuator and circuit against the manufacturer's specification; an open actuator can also produce an abnormal high reading.
Common fixes
- Repair damaged mount A wiring that is contacting a powered circuit.
- Clean, secure, or replace corroded or damaged connector terminals.
- Replace the mount A actuator if it is open or fails its circuit test.
Can I keep driving?
The vehicle may be driven cautiously if vibration is manageable, but the mount may not damp engine movement as intended. Avoid hard acceleration and have it checked soon, especially if the engine moves excessively or vibration worsens.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
