OBD-II fault code

P0A10: DC/DC Converter Status Circuit High

What it means

The control module detects a high signal in the DC/DC converter status circuit. It sets the code when the status signal exceeds the expected range during monitoring.

How it works

The DC/DC converter transfers power from the hybrid high-voltage system to maintain the vehicle's 12-volt electrical supply. P0A10 indicates that the converter status circuit signal is higher than the module's expected range while it monitors converter operation.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Faulty DC/DC converter
  2. Short to voltage in status circuit wiring
  3. Loose or corroded connector
  4. Faulty control module

Symptoms

  • Hybrid system warning light
  • 12-volt battery warning
  • Reduced or unavailable hybrid operation

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and scan hybrid and charging modules for related converter or 12-volt system codes.
  2. Check the 12-volt battery warning status and measure battery condition using the manufacturer's specified method to see whether charging is affected.
  3. Inspect the accessible converter status wiring and connectors for damage, corrosion, poor seating, or contact with a voltage source.
  4. Review converter status data with a scan tool and compare it with the module's commanded state, if those data are available.
  5. Have the status circuit checked for a short to voltage and test the converter and control module according to manufacturer procedures.

Common fixes

  • Secure a loose converter status connector.
  • Repair damaged wiring or a confirmed short to voltage in the status circuit.
  • Replace a failed DC/DC converter if tests show it is not operating correctly.
  • Repair or replace a control module only after its wiring and inputs are verified.

Can I keep driving?

If the 12-volt battery warning is on or electrical systems are failing, limit driving because the vehicle may lose electrical power or stop being drivable. Arrange diagnosis promptly, especially if READY mode is unavailable.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
