OBD-II fault code

P0932: Hydraulic Pressure Sensor Circuit

What it means

The hydraulic pressure sensor reports a circuit fault. Hydraulic system pressure feedback is unreliable.

At a glance

  • Usually lights the check-engine light
  • The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode

How it works

The hydraulic pressure sensor provides the transmission control system with feedback about hydraulic pressure used to operate shifts. P0932 sets when the module detects a fault in the sensor circuit, so it cannot rely on that pressure signal and may limit transmission operation.

Common causes

Most likely first.

  1. Pressure sensor failed
  2. Wiring fault

Symptoms

  • Check engine or transmission warning light on
  • Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
  • Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
  • Slipping or shuddering during gear changes

How to diagnose it

  1. Record freeze-frame data and scan for transmission codes that may help distinguish a sensor-circuit fault from a pressure or shift problem.
  2. Compare the pressure sensor reading on a scan tool with other available transmission data and check whether the reading is missing or implausible.
  3. Inspect the pressure sensor connector and wiring for damage, loose terminals, corrosion, or fluid contamination.
  4. Check the sensor circuit connections and supply, ground, and signal paths according to the wiring information for the vehicle.
  5. Test the sensor and circuit for continuity or a short, comparing results with the manufacturer's specification.
  6. If the circuit checks out, assess the hydraulic pressure sensor itself and verify actual pressure using the vehicle maker's prescribed method.

Common fixes

  • Repair damaged or loose pressure sensor wiring or connector terminals.
  • Clean contamination from the connector and restore a sound electrical connection.
  • Replace the hydraulic pressure sensor if its circuit output is faulty.

Can I keep driving?

Because this fault can trigger limp mode and unreliable shifting, avoid high-speed roads, heavy loads, and long trips. Stop driving if the transmission slips or loses drive, as continued operation can worsen transmission damage.

A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together

This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
