What it means
The hydraulic pressure sensor reports a circuit low fault. Hydraulic system pressure feedback is unreliable.
At a glance
- Usually lights the check-engine light
- The engine or gearbox may go into limp mode
How it works
The hydraulic pressure sensor feeds pressure information to the transmission control module for shift control. P0934 means the sensor circuit signal is lower than expected, which can be caused by a sensor fault or a wiring problem such as corroded pins with high contact resistance.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Pressure sensor failed
- Wiring fault
- Connector pins corroded - high contact resistance
Symptoms
- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Harsh, delayed, or missing shifts
- Possible limp mode (locked in one gear)
- Slipping or shuddering during gear changes
How to diagnose it
- Record freeze-frame data and scan for related transmission codes before clearing the low-signal fault.
- Check the pressure sensor live reading and note whether it is low, fixed, or absent under the conditions in the freeze-frame.
- Inspect the sensor connector pins for corrosion, poor contact, fluid contamination, or damage, and check the nearby wiring.
- Check the sensor circuit supply, ground, and signal paths for excessive resistance or a short, following the manufacturer's specification.
- Test the hydraulic pressure sensor and compare its signal with pressure measured using the vehicle maker's prescribed procedure.
- If the signal changes when the harness is moved, isolate and repair the high-resistance connection or intermittent wiring fault.
Common fixes
- Clean corroded pressure sensor connector pins and restore secure contact.
- Repair high-resistance or damaged wiring in the sensor circuit.
- Replace the hydraulic pressure sensor if its output remains low with a sound circuit.
Can I keep driving?
With limp mode or abnormal shifting, avoid long trips, high speeds, and heavy loads. Stop driving if the transmission slips, shudders, or loses drive, since continued use can worsen damage.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
