What it means
The control module monitors the control circuit for A/V sensor washer fluid pump E. It sets this code when the circuit’s electrical response is outside the expected range or the pump does not respond as commanded.
At a glance
- Usually lights the airbag (SRS) or body-system warning light
How it works
Pump E in the A/V sensor washer system delivers cleaning fluid to an audio/video sensor lens. The control module watches pump E’s control circuit and sets B0133 if the electrical response is outside its expected range or the pump does not respond to a command.
Common causes
Most likely first.
- Failed washer fluid pump
- Open or shorted pump wiring
- Loose or corroded connector
- Blown fuse or power supply fault
- Blocked pump or washer-fluid passage
Symptoms
- Warning light or symbol related to the affected system
- Comfort or safety function impaired
How to diagnose it
- Check freeze-frame data and other washer-system codes to determine whether this is an isolated pump E fault.
- Confirm the reservoir contains fluid, then command pump E with a scan tool if supported and check for pump operation and fluid delivery.
- Inspect pump E’s connector and wiring for corrosion, loose or displaced pins, chafing, or fluid intrusion.
- Test pump E’s fuse, power, ground, and control circuit according to the wiring diagram and manufacturer’s specification.
- If the electrical checks pass, look for a blockage in pump E, its hose, or the nozzle at the A/V sensor.
Common fixes
- Fill the washer-fluid reservoir if low.
- Remove a blockage from pump E’s hose or sensor nozzle.
- Repair damaged wiring or a loose or corroded pump E connector.
- Replace a failed fuse after addressing the reason it blew.
- Replace pump E if it fails despite correct power, ground, and control.
Can I keep driving?
Driving is generally possible, but the A/V sensor cleaned by pump E may become dirty and its associated assistance feature may not work as intended. Keep the sensor clean and do not rely on that feature until the washer circuit is fixed.
A code shows where the control module detected a fault, not always which part failed. Check the causes in order and confirm with a test before replacing parts. Have several codes? Check them together
This is a generic code: it means the same on every make. The car’s maker may add more detail in its own service information.
