What is the Scion xB?

The xB is a small, tall hatchback with a squared-off body and an upright cabin. Its boxy shape made it one of Scion’s most distinctive models. Scion was Toyota’s youth-focused US brand, created to explore new products and attract younger customers.

The xB was sold in the United States from 2004 to 2015 and in Canada from 2011 to 2015.

Generations and engines

The first-generation xB ran from 2004 to 2006. After a gap, the second generation arrived in 2008 and continued through 2015. It kept the upright, boxy shape while giving the xB a roomier compact-hatchback form.

US versions used petrol engines from 1.5 L to 2.4 L. Canadian versions used a 2.4 L petrol engine.

How economical is the Scion xB?

The best combined US EPA rating is 29 MPG, and the lowest EPA consumption figure is 8.1 L/100 km. Canada’s lowest NRCan figure is 9.8 L/100 km. The EPA and Canadian 5-cycle procedures differ, so these figures are not directly comparable.
